Your family will cope better by being prepared for disaster BEFORE it strikes. One way is to assemble a 72-hour survival kit. A suggested emergency supply kit list is as follows:
-One gallon of water per person per day -Canned meats, fruits and vegetables,
-High energy foods such as peanut butter, canned juices, milk, soup
jelly, crackers, and trail mix -Paper cups, plates, and utensils
-Battery operated radio and extra batteries -Flashlight and extra batteries
-Cash or traveler’s checks -Non-electric can opener
-Books, magazines, cards, toys, games -Infant care items
-Toilet paper, towelettes -Plastic storage containers
-Change of clothes -Map of the area (for locating shelters)
-First aid kit -Personal hygiene items
-Plastic garbage bags -Special dietary food, if required
-Rain gear -Blankets or sleeping bags
-Medication – as well as your prescription information written down in a notebook for refills later
